Dion (Ngāti Mutunga, Ngāti Tama, and Taranaki Iwi) is the Pou Whakahaere (Chief Executive Officer) of Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa Trust.
He has worked in Maori development his entire life beginning his career as a historian for the Waitangi Tribunal before moving to policy and communication roles. From 2000 to 2006 he was a negotiator for Ngati Mutunga iwi in their Treaty settlement negotiations with the New Zealand Government. In 2007 he returned to Taranaki as the Transition Manager for Te Runanga o Ngāti Mutunga before taking on the role of Chief Executive of Parininihi ki Waitotara Incorporation from 2008-2016. Prior to returning to Taranaki in 2021 Dion was the Chief Executive of Te Ohu Kaimoana, the Maori Fisheries Trust, where he worked with the Government on National Fisheries Policy on behalf of all iwi throughout Aotearoa.
